A better campaign would understand that the debate was a fiasco and their campaign is currently on life-support, and respond to it with the urgency that requires. It's not about one thing here or there to "fix it" and move on. It's that they're in real trouble, and not responding to it urgently

It feels like at least as big a problem with how Biden is doing is that no one in the campaign has any idea how to respond, and it's hard to tell whose fault that really is (though obviously the buck stops with Biden).

Ably put. Lowering tone and raising expectations for the debate back in May was a big tactical error; going into defensive siege mode after the debate went so badly is a strategic error. I *want* to be hearing about what the Dems are gonna do re the SCOTUS immunity decision; but crickets on that.

The campaign is being run the same way the first year of his term was - sluggish, stubborn, acting like it’s 1973 communication-wise. I hated it then & I hate it now.

Obviously wild speculation, but this feels consistent with a campaign which itself has a leadership vacuum. In a way, what’s worse than Biden potentially being somewhat incapacitated is that nobody seems to be filling in for him. Moreover, who’s left who could decide to withdraw?
