I have spent my career at Tech companies, and I reckon this: Innovation for innovation's sake is sexy but useless. No code is magical enough to be worth a damn if it doesn't do something real human people want or need. If you're spending billions without centering humans, you're wasting your life.

Stopped watching MSM in 2016. It was obvious then that they saw the profit in backing the right. Don't expect them to change ever. Profit is their motivation and they will re-tell any lie or half-truth to make a buck.

All I can say is that it is completely up to you who is allowed in your life and who is not. Ending toxic relationships can make a big difference. Ending one with MIL changed our family completely and spouse is a much happier person.

Good morning. Was on holiday for a long weekend. Had the delight of cooking my daughter's favorite meal for her birthday while dodging raindrops. Took an extra day of holiday so I get to scroll and play games for another day today.

When mainstream media becomes a tool of far right propaganda the result is dumb people voting for perceived threats (immigrants bla bla bla) and not real ones (increased inequality, services privatization, corporate land grab, anti environmental rhetoric etc) which is what the far right supports.

The folks in the UK threw out their conservative government in favor of one less conservative, but not exactly liberal. Interesting to watch how this works. I think we have to do the same in the U.S. in November.

As a constitutional scholar, I am well aware of the serious headwinds and challenges facing the US on the nation's birthday. It will be bad, whatever happens in the Fall elections. But I also know enough US history that resistance is not futile and we have many historical models of it.

When the ability to charge my vehicle becomes as ubiquitous and convenient as the ability to refuel my gas car, I will consider electric. just a side note, you can't walk to the nearest station to get a gallon of electricity when you run out on the road.

Really. I have a new Samsung phone and what I get from it is good and in the right lighting great. Prefer using a Digital SLR but lugging that around to get a snap isn't as convenient as dropping the phone in my pocket. What software do you use to turn a shot into art?

Now I see all my feeds are hidden and the default feed appears to be locked to Following.

Can deal with the change to the UI, but really want to be able to set my default feed.

Also don't feel bad about muting certain words or blocking/muting people who have suddenly become too much, or indeed walking away from social media until whatever freak-out is ongoing has settled down, social media is not the world, and you're allowed to curate it so as not to stress you out.
