People will make big noise about "encouraging someone to be their most authentic self is the best way to love them"...
...but then everyone complains when they have to eliminate witnesses, hide bodies and/or provide bail money.
(some of us aren't our "authentic selves" to avoid prison)

I think the thing that frustrates me the most about The Hobbit Trilogy is that we almost got a full Guillermo Del Toro version of the Hobbit (which I think Goblintown and the Goblin King might have been leftovers from) and I would have loved to see how that would have played out in its entirety.

I think I personally would have gone 3 1 3...I really felt the second movie was a slog at times, particularly with the activity in Laketown, but I dug how the final film was basically one action scene after another, even if a lot of that was wonky CGI.

They pale in comparison to their predecessors, but aren't actually bad, in my estimation.

As you noted in your review, Martin Freeman and Ian McKellen carry most of this trilogy on their back, but I enjoy the various bits and pieces that stand out to me and there are some pretty good acting and fun action shots in these three movies.

Okay, with this in mind, I will speak my piece - The Hobbit Trilogy isn't nearly as bad as people give it credit for. It is over-long, the CGI tends towards a clunkiness that wasn't evident in the LotR Trilogy and there's a pointless romance jammed into it...but it isn't unwatchable.

(I misinterpreted the ambiguity here as pointed towards The Hobbit Trilogy rather than the current film being reviewed. Oops.)

The only reason I'm awake at midnight these days is because I've been working a night shift schedule for over a decade.
Otherwise, I suspect I'd be the old fogey calling it a day at like 9PM at the latest.

I can't tell if bug season has just been really quiet here, if I haven't been outside enough to experience it or if climate change is just murdering all out local bugs, because I haven't really been effected by anything this season yet.

The thing that's obvious to everyone and that nobody can actually write in the press is that the American (and yes, I'm sure elsewhere too) right wing is led by bad people and the object is to make more people extremely bad in basically every respect. It's anti-society

I just read an article that said "Why is it taking so long for your favorite movies and tv series to air? Blame the writers and actor strikes"
No I won't. I'm blaming that ✨single✨ motherfucker at the studio who makes $250 million dollars a year who's one job is supposed to make this shit happen.

Yanno, a good dance is a lot like martial arts. It's amazing to witness and makes me want to move, but I know I've nowhere near the physical acumen to do anything but look like a Muppet whose engineer is having a seizure.

At times, I find myself contemplating the fact that any courting I might engage in comes with a caveat at this point in my life, perfectly illustrated in "Fallout" when Lucy McLean meets her first actual Wastelander, he tries to get her to stay by telling her:

Some of the verses in there just go...very perpendicular away from the presumed premise of the song, which is jarring but also fascinating.
Just like 90° into "Where are we going with this? Just out into ether, Luda? Okay, we ball, let's do this."
