Latest story, "Grottmata," is now online at @nightmare-magazine.com. A space colony is plagued by a series of inexplicable deaths; an Inspector and a factory girl know more than they let on. Thanks again to Wendy and the Nightmare team for taking this and for their care with this one.

Oh also I just wrote a not-very-detailed Patreon post about character names and it's public if people want to check it out. :D

It kills me that we're doing this, b/c her story as it was told is SO vulnerable, & how the podcast refuses to protect her story after the beginning is totally irresponsible & horrifying.

So from my standpoint, I trust she was hurt. I trust she needs help. & I would hope some legal folks in NZ will volunteer to help her tell her story again, to someone like RNZ.

This particular point might be a matter of you & me disagreeing on what a news agency, vs a news site as an entrepreneurial venture, would be. I'm going off their UK company filings & the fact that their domains are owned by an individual, not an org. Like Infowars.

That doesn't mean anything abt the shockingly horrible portrayal. I was directly interviewed. I know many who were, & were made to look as horrible as this podcast did to Scarlett.

All good, I'm okay with that.
You're making assumptions abt my intent which makes it clear you need to get one over.

...I'm not sure where you're missing my point. I'm not asking for her to speak publicly. I'm asking her to speak to an actual trusted news agency, b/c Tortoise isn't a news agency.

And if she did agree, I want to hear it! I am chasing her enthusiastic consent to having all of this exposed and litigated on social media. Because I don't see it right now. As a matter of fact, the story would lead me to believe she'd feel sick and horrified that we're discussing it.

Dude, I have no love for Gaiman. I am intensely aware that the story as portrayed in the podcast might put Scarlett in DANGER.

The problem is, I don't know her story! That's the whole point! It's not coming directly from her mouth, it's coming from someone else's mouth. & The story as portrayed by the podcast is incredibly PERSONAL. I can't believe she'd agree to all of that being exposed.

I know about the whispers.
Like I said, I fully believe he could be.
But that isn't SCARLETT.
Scarlett needs her voice to be true. She needs HELP right now, & the more we pass this around w/o verifying she wanted this, the more we endanger her.

I haven't b/c I can't *find* any. I can't find these folks' identities, nor should I be ABLE to, & I'm not seeing anything of the sort in my timeline.
I fully believe he could be a pest, but the podcast is so *incredibly* irresponsible to Scarlett that she desperately needs another mediating voice.

I can't believe I have to jump in here, but both journalists & investigators famously misrepresent their interviewees. I'm still mad at the NYT for misrepresenting me/my friends in the 90s.
It *protects* victims to ensure their words are being repeated & interpreted correctly.
Signed, a survivor.

Judging folks for not knowing the thing "everyone knew" in your whisper network is a great way to tell the people whose safety you don't care about that you also feel morally superior to them.

I really wanted to go to ReaderCon this month. Really strongly wanted to go. But there's no way we can deal w/all the logistics & costs right now, on top of grieving yet another loss in the family.
I'll get to you eventually, ReaderCon! I promise.
