it should!!! there is identical legislation on the floor in Ohio now, bc this bill passed in Idaho.

that is exactly the intention. To create sway and untenable cost to these institutions. They know they can't get what they want by straight up asking people to defund these places. But they can defund them with these efforts. Sickening.

This is in Donnelly Idaho as a result of hb 710, which makes libraries financially liable for any complaint of "inappropriateness" Identical legislation is on the floor in Idaho. Book bans used to be quaint, a result of moral panics that ebbed and flowed. Now they're organized. This is the result

Again, Black people are an exception here, as basically anyone who stayed in the Jim Crow South has a living memory of living under what amounted to fascism, including the “always walking on eggshells/lack of social trust/long periods of boring endurance/randomized terrifying violence”
