Sodium ion battery storage is almost certainly never going to have lighter energy density than lithium solutions but it will almost certainly become cheaper due to the abundance of sodium, and that's amazing news for the environment. Also it can replace lithium in shorter-range economy city cars.

To be clear - CCS is going to be the 'end of the line' tech for net zero. There will always be a carbon footprint to human activities (look at the real GHG footprint of hydropower) but we can't afford any more cO2 increase so we'll have to do some of this.
