Leaving America is not a viable option for an overwhelming majority of people for a multitude of reasons. As someone who has lived outside of America it also doesn't mean better - just different (and money is a major factor). If you personally got the means then cool but it's not a solution

The heartache of pouring a quart of heavy whipping cream down the sink because when you screwed off the cap there was no pull tab. You're not sure if you opened it previously, it didn't come with one or someone tampered with it. So you practice caution and pour $7 down the sink 😭

SDET and automation positions are usually not too far undervalued salary wise it's that on the whole there are just less QA/testing positions as companies think they can get away with less due to AI

I was a little scared that this was yet another accessibility overlay company coming online but this is actually focused on supporting devs on accessibility before going live but it's still missing the mark saying they can replace manual testing. You can't replace manual accessibility testing 100%

If aliens came to me with the choice of blowing up Earth & everyone on it except myself. I would be put on a spaceship to fly me into the sun which would obviously kill me, but I would have access to all of Earth's streaming services that existed before the explosion until I died. Absolutely yes.

I did a bit of ranting earlier about this but it's wild how you can get a hospital bill for $100k that insurance can pay $37k and ask for a discount on the rest. But if you don't have insurance you won't get a similar deal.

I removed my Accessibility feed because I couldn't fix it. Also I don't think Bluesky has the steady digital accessibility community that the feed was for. There are other feeds here focused on disability rights/justice I would suggest. There is also the below feed if you are looking for a11y tips

This episode of social catfish is in my city. There is a huge issue with romance scammers taking advantage of people with cognitive and learning disabilities. Then there are people who need to do self reflection and evaluation than being in relationships even expensive fake ones.
