I suspect the political science literature might need to be corrected on the first and foremost concern of every elected being winning re-election.

It’s a bummer. I liked him a lot despite everything. Fellow Minnesotan too.

Yes exactly. He was convinced Biden had dementia during that period and now he’s pretending he’s shocked people are freaking out that Biden has issues now.

Will has grossed me out with this because he knows he is lying. But now he’s a candidate and he’s got to get Dem institutional buy in so he’s just playing the hits.

They’re just blowing smoke. Every state has a statue with exactly how many days after the convention, or before Election Day, a major political party has to certify the nominee for the ballot.

So no, force them to do whatever they want to do on whatever bullshit pretenses and call it out for bullshit. The truth is, if it matters anymore, their legal basis for this is completely nonexistent.

Oh I’m aware. But if you want to accept what they are saying then you need to concede Biden already lost the election. The heritage foundation doesn’t even believe Biden won in 2020!

The heritage foundation said there will be a revolution that will only be bloodless if the left lets them. I literally do not care what they think.

If it’s up to them then there is no election anyway so who cares? Anyway never let the enemy dictate the tempo. Force them to do that if they want to and make themselves engage in the doublespeak.

They would have zero legal basis too and if they could then the game is already lost. Literally zero basis. He’s not even nominated yet.

If he's not cognitively fit for the campaign, he's not cognitively fit for the office. Him remaining on would only exacerbate media questions, and the attention would remain on him, not Harris or any other candidate. The vice president isn't illegitimate or appointed. We elected her for this.

It’s not the end of democracy, it’s what literally almost everyone wants. The minority of voters want him in.

Never let the enemy decide things for you. I’m not going to say Biden has to be the nominee because the Heritage Foundation said so.

She also can form a coherent sentence. A contrast with Trump and also a good quality in a candidate.

It’s ridiculous. Like I admittedly feel kinda bad for the senior staffers who have to do it but not that bad. They made the mess in the first place.

It’s so obvious! I don’t know how people can’t see it. People HATE Trump. The only thing that might cause folks to hesitate would be say…a candidate with brain damage.

It was going to be a walk-over until the debate, and it would be again if people had a candidate they could trust and was unquestionably competent. Also, we'd loose 'Genocide Joe' in the process picking up the far left, and the 'anybody but Trump' balance would carry the day.

The White House still claims he is making decisions. Like he personally called Netanyahu about striking Iran. When is he allowed to make those judgement calls and when not? It’s so dangerous for a superpower to be run this way.

Look I have dealt with a lot of politics. I’ve held my nose to vote for some people I wouldn’t want to hang out with. I support the team. Voting for someone who has dementia or something similar to be the most powerful person on the planet is way beyond the pale. That’s 2+2=5 territory.

I’m well aware of what might happen afterwards. Trump has threatened violence and unrest which will be upsetting and horrible. But it will be containable with a leader that does not have cognitive decline.

If this happened, the election also goes from a catastrophic change in the world order to a pretty awesome affirmation of democracy. Trump will get smoked if he’s up against a decent Dem.

If B was honest and dropped the hubris and the advisors, he'd quietly arrange a new ticket, and televised from the WH announce his retirement and his endorsement. They're his delegates, and while he doesn't absolutely control their votes, he'd get them out of respect... and we'd get COMPETENCE.

It’s very clear and has been for some time that he’s not well. I’ll be glad for the debate if it forces everyone to push past the denial.

Like I get people have strong views on this but “actually conditioning military aid to Israel is good and so are ceasefires” is not the shocking cause for chaos people expect it to be. It’s the mainstream position in the party except for a specific person out of step with that.

People keep talking about how chaotic the Dem convention is going to be. Has it ever occurred to everyone how insane it will be if everyone did nothing and they put “genocide Joe” on the ballot? It’s really really not going to take much to distance from his position.

It's also REALLY not that dangerous. People are terrified of Trump. And literally no one in the party even likes Biden's stance anymore on Gaza. Downballot candidates already figured this out.

You know some countries have like election cycles that last one month as opposed to forever. Something to think about before everyone confidently asserts what can and can't be done in the amount of time left.

I hope people realize how ridiculous this is in a very short period of time as the revolt in Dem ranks is increasing. But in the meantime, no one is going to be able to convince me that ride or die on someone I have to lie to everyone I know about his capabilities is defeating fascism.

I never honestly felt that both candidates were actively dangerous to the safety of the United States. I have a high risk tolerance for voting for people I disagree with on many things too. And its exactly what I think this time.

It's just not that ridiculous of a position. I get it. We were all taught growing up that a vote for anyone other than the major candidates is crazy and stupid and throws away our power. If those are our options, neither of which is interested in listening at all to anyone...what power?

I do not feel safe with either of them which is exactly my point. What do I choose "a rotting fruit" or a "fascist" is how someone put it to me. My answer? Neither. And I would wonder what insane system gave me such options and think about how maybe that was the problem.

This is literally the opposite of what I'm basing it all off of. Obviously the people in my political circles don't say things like this? It's the swing voters I talk to every week for door knocking that do.
