Digging into roots can do that. Worst case I ever had was from roots. Oral steroids cleared it up quick.

If I recall correctly, that sound means you still have cartilage left. Which is good! The grinding sound that sounds like bone on bone is bad. Because it is bone on bone, and whether literal or euphemism, you want a barrier when bones touch.

Full professor here, can confirm. If you can send a nice thank you email, sometimes that helps at evaluation time. Especially for folks that have outreach responsibilities. Most of us have to do annual portfolios to prove our work is being used.

I am a librarian with an MS. I rented for my commencement. I am a faculty-rank librarian now. We had a president years ago that wanted all faculty to attend convocation in regalia. I made a gown and bought a hood. Then convocation stopped. So I now have regalia I never wear.

I have a floor length 1840 gown in black that is similar in style to some of these. It gets worn more often than I thought it would, and there's a nice vibe when wearing 12 yards of black. Corset optional, but definitely adds something. Just remember to pick up your hem on stairs.

I am planning on trying a carburetor cleaning kit. We will switch to a jewelry drill if we need more cutting than pushing. The guitar string is also a good idea. We have library guitars, so we can reuse the old strings

That's the one we are asking the campus lab safety officer about. It's listed as flammable, but I don't know where the line is for flam cabinet. Or air flow. Or other hazards I haven't thought of.

I welcome suggestions! We are looking to expand from appointment-only printing to web submit. Have 2 Prusas, looking to add a Bambu. Staff are looking for ways to speed up cleaning the Prusas when the nozzle gets caked up with melted mess.

No, not toluene. We're trying to determine if there is a solvent we can use (with reasonable saftey) to melt PLA off of the 3D printer nozzle. There definitely solvents that soften PLA, but I don't know if we are allowed to have them, especially since the windows don't open.

I have not followed @funranium.bsky.social for long, but thanks to him I now ask questions like "are we allowed to have that solvent?" and "Do we need a flammable materials cabinet ?" Both questions I hadn't anticipated asking in an academic library.
