We need really strong regulation around how companies look after our personal information, and how much they should **pay us** when the data they supposedly looked after is hacked. ie: a serious incentive to encrypt/protect our data properly and delete it after it has been used

We should learn from the aftermath of the Westfield attack, where a false name for the attacker was trending for 24 hours: don’t rely on internet detectives during a news event. Particularly on X, where moderation is now thin (and “verification” now unreliable)

TikTok is not the first platform to mobilise its own considerable user base against proposed government legislation, ie mobilising users for a political purpose. Google did this in Australia against the News Media Bargaining Code.
