Have you ever been in a hurry to do something but you have to “select all the images with fire hydrants” first? That’s the future of AI. You’re dying on an intersection somewhere but need to train an AI with bicycle pics to get to a human on your phone

You cannot debate someone who can lie with a straight face, and who probably believes his own lies. Biden is getting overwhelmed by the sheer audacity of the false statements. This, for Trump, is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Rebranding their own integration of OpenAI products as “Apple intelligence” is a genius marketing move. And it is absolutely a marketing move.

We need really strong regulation around how companies look after our personal information, and how much they should **pay us** when the data they supposedly looked after is hacked. ie: a serious incentive to encrypt/protect our data properly and delete it after it has been used

If you can’t quite quit Twitter, give this a read.

Cameron uses the same method I use for crossposting across multiple platforms.

It gives your audience the option of following you wherever they feel most comfortable.

We should learn from the aftermath of the Westfield attack, where a false name for the attacker was trending for 24 hours: don’t rely on internet detectives during a news event. Particularly on X, where moderation is now thin (and “verification” now unreliable)

The absence of responsible moderation on X (and the dismantling of verification) means it’s now completely unreliable after an event like this. It wasn’t always this bad, btw.

The difference in the US is that the government is already deeply suspicious of TikTok for geopolitical reasons. So it backfired.

TikTok is not the first platform to mobilise its own considerable user base against proposed government legislation, ie mobilising users for a political purpose. Google did this in Australia against the News Media Bargaining Code.
