What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't.

This was possible only because non-fascists made the strategic choice to coalesce behind the most viable candidate in each district, often dropping out to increase the odds of defeating fascists. Voters also made tactical choice to vote for the most viable non-fascist/ in their districts.

Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise

I think the unease with Biden that I feel at least is that whatever strategy they have, they are not able to execute it fully because either him or the campaign is afraid of putting him out too much.

I don’t know what the Biden camp’s strategy is, but they are not doing well on either of those groups. At the end of the day, Biden sunglasses are better suited to be president than Trump, but he needs to up the game imo.

I don’t have a clear opinion of whether Biden should drop out and replaced by Harris or not, but it has to be one of the campaign strategies. In order to win in the critical swing states you have to either increase the turnout of your base or convince these unreliable swing voters.

It wouldn’t because there are no more primaries. Ranked choice voting is a method to choose politicians in elections. There are no more primary elections left and no time to do it all over even if it was procedurally possible.

Yeah Harris is the only alternative with some legitimacy. The moment the any governor or a senator jumps in a half dozen aspiring candidates will all jump in and it will be complete chaos. We don’t have primaries to sort things out. If it’s not Biden it has to be Harris.

Any argument for Biden to dropout should be seen as an argument for nominating Harris. There’s no primaries or a smoke filled room where a small number of people gets to decide Biden’s replacement

The debate around whether Biden shouldn’t run has always been around the known weaknesses of Biden and the unknown weaknesses of the alternatives, namely Harris. This is a decision only Biden can make though.

Maybe it’s worth it IDK. I haven’t seen the debate performance yet. The unfortunate aspect of a presidential system rather than a parliamentary democracy is that a president is expected to be good at public performance. I think Biden’s policies and records have been phenomenal though.

Realistically, even if JB Pritzker of Sherrod Brown or Klobuchar was stronger than Harris, the moment they jump in it will be a very chaotic process without primaries. Harris has at least the legitimacy of being Vice President so maybe people can come around supporting her.

We don’t have recent polls but AFAIK the polls that tested others like Harris, Newsom and Whitmer all showed them doing worse. I expect we see more polls testing on this. But realistically the only clear heir to Biden is Harris and she is polling the worst.
