I mean, there are reasons why we learn not to follow every impulse when we are like, two years old. If a toddler can do it, a guy in his fifties should be able to.

I'd call 41 middle-aged, but I'm not sure, maybe this is different depending where you hail from?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure in his case it has more to do with his current age than not being able to get laid when he was in his twenties.

I suspect there is also massive denial at work here - "surely she wants this, I would never abuse my higher social standing/her being dependent on me to do something she doesn't want". That sort of thing.

Same here at 48. But I also recall much older men obliviously flirting with me when I was 21 (and seriously, I looked younger). Something like this never happened to me, thankfully, but the idea that I wouldn't be interested in someone that old apparently didn't occur to them.

Yeah. I read this, and just felt tired. You'd think that someone would actually manage not to be a creep, but no, fame+middle age apparently always manages to somehow "compel" people to become abusive predators.

Not only that, he also has some experience with legal situations (due to rights disputes over comics/characters, not anything like this, afaik).

Bit weirded out by the people in the replies that insist your current Elderly President is somehow worse than Senile Hitler (lol), but thanks for the chance to add more accounts to the blocking list in addition to the laughs.

I recall one, when the movie with Emma Thompson playing her came out. Jonathan Pryce played Lytton Strachey. That was ... mid-1990s?

Depends on the personality. We had a feral tom living here about a decade ago, who was incredibly chill. Didn't bother when other toms wanted to fight him, whether neutered or unneutered, and was adorable w/ kittens even when they weren't his. But in general they can be aggressive, true.

Cute! And I think that's definitely a tom. If he's not neutered, you'll see pretty quickly. (If it's a queen who is spayed, the belly will hang down somewhat, though that also happens with toms. It's just that a non-neutered tom has very obvious signs, i.e. balls.)

Oh, no, that sucks. A less aggressive scent-related idea would be putting one of your sweaters/shirts on one of his sleeping places, so he starts associating you with good things again. And I'd bribe him with snacks. Lots and lots of snacks.

Watched the #Shardlake series on #DisneyPlus and enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm a fan of the books, though I haven't read Dissolution in ages. Somewhat free in certain historical details (no hats on the gents!)

I was never tempted to do harder drugs, because the anti-drug material we got in school cleverly had lengthy, scientific explanations what each did to your body and especially, your brain.

From my experience, cats do grieve if they got along with the cat who is no longer around, but as long as they weren't extremely bonded, he'll get used to it. As long as he eats he'll most likely be fine. I'd try and see if he'd feel better w/ cat company around once you're okay with that.
