I have noise canceling headphones and I'm piping music to cover the sound, but I can still hear the fireworks. When I hear fireworks, I feel threatened. No amount of therapy or medication can make me feel safe. Each time I hear one, I worry I will die.

i am so sorry. lived like that for about a year after getting shot at, it is miserable. i was so close to leaving the city, but an insurance mostly change, meant new therapist and got fixed, still have that feeling around guns, had to drop therapist. i hope you are in a position to get good help.
