Here's what we are reading today: If Trump has a plan to end the war, he should share it, but it must respect Ukraine's sovereignty, Zelenskyy told Bloomberg. He pointed out delays in Western arms deliveries and said he is considering meeting Trump to discuss his plan.

My daughter was the editor of her high school paper and wrote a multi-part series on the importance of Esquivel! And provided a playlist.

Personally, I think margaritas on the rocks are better. I do shake them in a tumbler with ice before pouring over rocks though. Splits the difference.

It’s the eve of America giving the middle finger to a Monarch and the week we might have created a Monarch. As long as you yell “Down with Tyranny, Long Live Freedom” before you start each glass, I think it is ok.

lol Yeah its all the buzz here in Kentucky, but if Biden steps down and they are looking for a VP for Harris, Walz is a much more likely pick. He might be able to move Minnesota a few % points that actually matter.

My daughter having a hard conversation (on the phone*) with her boyfriend.

He said he doesn’t believe in democracy and only people informed should be able to vote.

🤬

My grandfather gave me countless books to read. There is only one he insisted that I had to read.

So when people have said 'hate is a helluva drug' what it really means is when you see people like JKR being a bigot, or some Karen losing her shit on trans people existing Their hate is PASSIONATE, and it's like...someone really into sports. And their frenzy, their passion is quite real. But

I can't urge anyone to vote for Biden. However, using federal resources to create state-level posses to hunt down 11 million people is more than a policy difference.

If Harris had the trappings of the POTUS for the next 4 months and had to help the country grieve, I think democracy might survive.

My take is that there are no undecideds. It’s going to be about GOTV in a way a POTUS election has never been in our lifetime. Your guy looking strong makes rah-rah-rah easier.

My expertise as a debater in high school and college leads me to believe when a candidate isn’t lying but also saying nothing, a hand appears in the corner giving a wank-off motion.

She made it 5 minutes. I am a glutton for punishment and watched another 10. Good news is that none of this matters. The only thing that matters is GOTV. There are no undecideds, only how many people will care to actually vote.

Almost every time the people end up paying less per month than renting. The biggest hurdle is getting over what they “want” and instead looking for what they “need” in a place. It’s not a sign of failure that your 1st place is a shithole, it’s fertilizer.

Over the past 15 years, it’s kinda been a hobby of mine helping people that think they could never be a home owner navigate the bureaucracy. I don’t make a dime doing it but I like helping people. They don’t teach this stuff in school and people just don’t know how to do it.

I’m a real estate appraiser and when I run into someone that can’t seem to get a mortgage for a variety of reasons, I send them to a small local bank or credit union. They make the decisions locally and can look at the individual as more than a number on a computer screen and the big banks don’t.

I think when most people hear CEO they think Fortune 500 company and not necessarily the local bank with 6 locations or the regional non-profit food bank. I personally know the CEO of both of those examples.

I get the impression that law firms operate like city-states ruled by philosopher-kings (Sr Partners) but the PKs are bored with day to day matters and simply issue decrees about any issue they find interesting at the moment.

SimCopter was so cool. I actually won the school computer award in middle school because the teacher was impressed how I played SimEarth. Being "good at computers" was a pretty low bar in 1990.

'Perverse' was too strong a word. I was just implying that the pendulum swinging in that direction could result in some other actions by studios that would piss off uninformed nobodies like me. My example of zombie productions that never get finished buts budgets grow indefinitely.

Oh yeah, I'm trying to look at it from Pluto so no worries. If they were allowed to take those costs as the incurred, it would create an incentive to overly inflate production budgets in some perverse ways. Zombie productions that never get finished.

So if I am reading that correctly, with the current system, the studios take this path because the write-off for the actual expense of making it is less than the write-off for the finished product. Which is why they let things get finished and then cancelled, correct?
