There are benefits to this, but the day of being able to just go to one place and reach the vast majority are over. Used to be if you wanted to let everyone know about a bad experience with a business, 1 tweet was enough to prompt a quick response from said business because so many might see it

Oh, absolutely. In fact I'm here in bsky specifically for the comicbook community But each community is in its own area, likely on multiple platforms. If you want to talk to the whole community, you're going to have to find and visit each one, as opposed to having to just go to 1 place.

Whenever I start wallowing in despair due to current events, I remind myself that I wrote two comics about how cool being trans is, book on queer superheroes, and a character study on the difficulties of moving past trauma, all of which were published by the Superman people. So, it's not all bad.

These days? Me too. Back then, I was a snobby teenaged film critic.

David Goyer told a great story about how he knows a reviewer is just being mean when they include that film credit when discussing whatever his current film is.

Ford made it about 18 hours with the cone before pulling it off. Better than his sister did when she was fixed. (She lasted 60 seconds) Luckily, in both cases they have/had little interest in licking their stitches. Still, the cone is going back on over night.

When we were all in one place, it worked. Much like streaming not working with so many players in the market, social media be broken up into so many different platforms means we'll never have the same "Townhall" again.

True, and Lord knows standard practices are going out the window these days so you can't count on anything not enshrined in law, but I think he'd rubber-stamp it without it being an issue.

Bought new taps to replace leaky one. Sat night I discovered it was missing parts, company sent replacement parts. Tues I discovered some of the parts are for a different set of taps. Store won't accept the return. Manufacturer won't help (but gave me a coupon good for 7 days?!) Wtf?

Think this was the last issue I bought off the rack. I absolutely love Fabian's writing but the X-Men corner of the Marvel Universe just never clicked with me.

Here in Ontario, they built the 407 highway with public funds, the 90s PC party sold it off. MADE ZERO SENSE. It's a toll road that makes billions, could have been a cash cow forever. As it stands, the current PC party just gave up collecting 1 Billion owed from the 407 because... reasons?

I think this is part of his plan. Break the LCBO so privatization goes full scale. Which is fucking absurd. We get BILLIONS from the LCBO. That helps all of Ontario. Huge revenue with an entity that pays employees well? THAT IS HOW ITS SUPPOSED TO WORK.

No idea who tweeted it originally, but my all time favorite is: "Please, call me Maury, my father was Mr. Povich. Or was he? We find out, after the break!"

Absolutely. Sex is weird and complicated (and wonderful) but it's way, way to easy for a lack of no to be interpreted as a yes. Never mind the yes that an active listener would understand is a no afraid to be voiced. Complicated but not so complicated that it can't be navigated by everyone.

I've been meaning to revisit The Ultimates, see if I'd still like it. I remember the infamous "Surrender? Surrender??!! You think this letter on my head stands for France?" Bothered me. Don't recall much else to be honest. I've really liked a few Millar stories, but just a few.

I think there is a false urgency so people watch stuff when it's not the right tone for them. I love The Boys, but also know what it is and I need to be in the right head space for it. In a couple of episodes, I paused cause I knew where it was going and needed to not go there that day.

It's all about the tone. The Boys set a tone from the moment we saw Hugh's intro in ep 1 that made it clear subtlety was never gonna be it's thing. I will also say, people have to time their viewings better. Just cause an episode is out, doesn't mean you NEED to watch it.

Yes. This. Also, have some awareness of how whatever you're into could be confusing or upsetting to someone not into it. At the very least, Establish some trust before diving into anything that others may find intense.

Often boils down to the way power makes itself invisible to the people who possess it. So often in these situations it's a famous man who just doesn't comprehend that a much younger and/or less famous woman is not easily able to meaningfully consent if he makes the first move.

Regardless, my buddy is hope, accepting pets and even laid down by my head for an hour (me and Ford are sleeping in the 2nd bedroom tonight, so he doesn't get into any trouble) Poor little guy has been through so much, but the recovery process has officially begun.

The family reunion didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped. The cone Ford has to wear is freaking out his siblings, who hissed at him repeatedly. We had a peeing outside the litter box incident too, but I'm hoping that's just due to me forgetting to take the lid off the ones on the main floor.

And mine to you and Pearl. It ain't easy when they are ill, I'm pretty open about the tears I've shed in fear and concern, but for any heartache that may come, life with pets is worth it.

About 5 yrs after my wife brought a cat into my life we had a night where the outside temp dropped to minus 40 At 2 am I woke, hearing a cat howling. For 10 minutes, in hat, mitts and my thick bathrobe I wandered the street looking for the cat. That's when I realized I was a cat person. 😁

I think so. For a bit they didn't seem to notice, then we realized they were eating less and looking around more. Of the 3, Ford is most likely to go off on his own but they usually regroup/nap together every couple of days And Zaphod has been wanting more pets today. (& He usually wants a lot)

At the vet, picking up Ford. They apologized because there will be a bit of a delay as they've got several emergencies happening. Told them, "Take your time. You helped my little guy when he needed it in a hurry, I can wait while you do that for others" What a job. Can't imagine it.

In highschool math class a kid grounded up "Rockets" candy (known as Smarties in the USA) and snorted it. His immediate reaction was to sneeze directly into the face of the prettiest girl in school, who had turned to see what he was doing.

A buddy of mine once quoted "I'll be your huckleberry" to me (I forget the context) and I caught the reference but asked, What does that even mean? He replied, "I don't know, but it sounded so cool when Val Kilmer said it"

Yes to male, And he does get a mix of wet and dry, or he did. Definitely learned a lesson here as he and his brother our our first male cats. Funny enough, 15 yrs ago a took in a cat from a friend, who said it was male. I didn't think to check. Why would I?
