Well, it's basically a sequel to Voyager, which was pretty adult whenever Naomi Wildman wasn't featured, so.

Thanks for the correction, and if it's who I'm thinking of, then that would absolutely track.

The only person I can remember seeing this on who wasn't a hippie or monster (maybe a few random characters on Star Trek TOS, as well) is Steve Ditko's original design for Squirrel Girl.

I just started rewatching KOTH; the early seasons aren't nearly as smooth-looking as that screenie. Also, my mind went to the Very Special Episode of KOTH in which a new girl somehow cons Bobby into helping her cook meth. Malcolm in the Middle did too (not a girl cook), around the same time. Hmm.

Also: - Paul Stanley of KISS is a big Rod Stewart fan, and wrote "Hard Luck Woman" as a tribute/possible cover song for Rod. - Paul Verhoeven's reimagining of Heinlein's Starship Troopers as fascist propaganda is due to his being in the Netherlands during the Nazi occupation.

The look of the Predator in that movie franchise was due to Stan Winston (legendary SFX/makeup artist) was sitting next to James Cameron on a flight and Cameron said that he'd always wanted to see an alien with mandibles.

Marcia Lucas won the Oscar, not George. And I always thought that the prequels were what they were because George had a need to prove that he didn't need her.

This "fact" always irks me because a) it's really just speculation that Obama wouldn't have won against Ryan and b) I was a voter in Illinois in '04 and I remember Ryan as a charisma-free investment banker who had no better chance of beating Obama than Alan Keyes did.

If you’re talking about the JNCO jeans, I always thought that they might have been derived from the Japanese hakama, such as what kendo practitioners wear, and someone thought, what if those, but jeans?

I’m not a big Narnia fan, but I liked the Great Brain books by John D. Fitzgerald (in part because the Great Brain’s name was Tom Dennis Fitzgerald), and there are some great descriptions of candy bars in the one where GB sells them to his classmates.

I'm usually cautious enough that I'll include content warnings if I'm talking about a movie that I liked. The closest set of friends that I've ever had, though, were all into challenging boundaries (I met them when they were singing songs from Rocky Horror), so that didn't apply.

Probably, yeah. I used to love taking United because their terminal at O'Hare is so cool, but the last time was crowded and unpleasant and they tried to bump me to a flight the next day and I had to nearly cause a scene to get one that day to another airport that was suitable.

I feel that, but I will check anyway to make sure that there isn't one ball that doesn't have some fragile and irreplaceable memento in it. Also, it's fun to look at old newspapers not just for the nostalgia shot but also to remember when newspaper journalism was a real and vital thing.

They also went in big on Theranos, ignoring their own lab expert when Holmes et al. stonewalled him. The retail outlets that had the little lab machines (that Theranos knew didn't work) for a short time were Walgreens.

I knew a fair number of people who loved the fact that Pathfinder 1e had so many classes and rulebooks, because getting into all that required a big investment of time and money, and when 2e came out they dropped out because they felt left behind. It didn't stroke their egos enough.

I get that, powerfully, because it's pretty pervasive, especially in RPGs. Not everyone who quickly and completely masters vast and abstruse game systems gatekeeps or scolds other players for not mastering to their degree, but enough do to make the more casual player self-conscious.

That was on the set of Better Call Saul. (It also nearly killed him; it was a blockage of the left anterior descending artery, also called the "widow maker" because it's often lethal--Kevin Smith also had one of these and barely survived. "Widow Maker" would be a great nickname for Hutch.)

I love this film. Sequel decay is a possibility, but I'm willing to risk it because "Bob Odenkirk is an action star" still seems like a Mr. Show sketch premise that got loose and is just busting shit up for the fun of it.
