There is particular power in such an ideologically diverse coalition rejecting the French right because fascists should be reminded often that theyβre repugnant to a broad swath of society, not just getting outmaneuvered by the wily left

Do you remember that time the Tories killed hundreds of thousands via sadistic austerity, and more with medical negligence - as they were too busy exploiting the pandemic- and then had an election and we ruined them?
I remember it like it was yesterday!

Oh, okay, interesting. I wasn't aware Reform was standing so many candidates. Are they mostly Scots, or pealy-wally Sassenachs?

@tltaylo.bsky.social Good morning, Terry and thank you for Following me!
Today, here in the UK, I will most definitely NOT be voting blue; we're hopefully going to see England & Wales turn (Labour) red, with quite a lot of (Liberal Democrat) yellow.
Have a great Thursday, yourself! Helen x

Unsurprising. I doubt Keith will be allowed to put up with them for long here (in London).

Good morning, @bsky.app friends; what a beautiful morning for kicking the Tories to kingdom come, making life difficult for Tory-lite Labour, and telling the Reform brown shirts exactly where they can go Sieg Heil!
And don't forget to take a pic of your pooch!

Let's pray it's the LibDems then! We desperately need a decent form of PR.
Although my vote is for my local Independent candidate, an ex-Labour local councillor, here in Lincolnshire.

The fundamental post-WW2 error is the belief that fascism was defeated in 1945. What we should have learned is that about 20-30% of the population generally think fascism sounds pretty good, and whenever we take our eye off the ball... guess who's back?

Here's a picture taken from my front door; the Church of St Lawrence, Sedgebrook, Lincolnshire. Like so many village churches, it's crumbling, underused, and beyond villagers' means to properly maintain. But we love it and do our best to keep it going, as a cultural focal point, if that makes sense?

I think for many Britons that weaponised, evangelical Christianilty (which is often messianic and Zionism endorsing), is as scary and as baffling as legal gun ownership.

I don't know if you've visited the UK; if you have you may have noticed that, happily, religion really doesn't pervade our everyday lives, unless we choose it. I know very few people who go to church, and religion in schools is confined to Christmas and Easter.
Faith's a private matter, mostly.

Is that what they rely on? Folk being too worried for their job/child's school place to question them? Or are people weary, and just let them get on with it?

Rishi Sunak's Facebook. Occasionally you see something and you go 'I hope you kept the receipt for the focus group that came out of', and the weird use of 'surrender' as a synonym for 'freely vote for' is one of them.
