That's still unusual sadly, and it won't be with PRH or HC who have group policies overriding things.

Our contracts are quite simple: we don’t use ‘AI’ and our writers, artists, etc. won’t either. Nor do we allow anyone to use our content to train AIs.

a small PSA - every author, when getting an offer, should be asking what the publisher's AI position is along with the deal terms. You may not be able to change things, but the publishers need to be made to state their LLM, narrator and artwork position ever time.

I'm not used to working in a near-full office these days. Apparently I'm sighing heavily as I read my emails, but in fairness several of them are from different divisions of HarperCollins.

Highly recommended - One of the few series in recent years that have grabbed my attention and kept me going past the first 1 or 2 instalments. And no, that is not an opening for you to tell me to try Sanderson/Erikson/Rothfuss etc

If your area got a new Labour MP then it is your duty to email them and say that you are happy the Tories are out but that transphobia should have no place in the party. Make Starmer gently walk back his support for Rowling's position!

This will be doubly awkward as the number of NOMINATIONS required for a candidate to make the Tory Leadership ballot ISN'T a percentage. It's a fixed number. 100 MPs. I'm sure it sounded reasonable at the time. Good luck getting 100 Tory MPs to agree on something when there are only 121 of them.

So to confirm, now we have near-final numbers: Every time 19 Tory MPs get a bit grumpy this parliament and stick their letters into the 1922 Committee... ...it'll automatically trigger a leadership contest.

The reason the media couldn't really cover this lawsuit extensively is because she dropped her lawsuit on November 4, 2016, just four days before the election, and her real name was never revealed. She had received death threats, according to her lawyer, despite never being named publicly.

Honestly if I had my life more together I could have been planning to spend Friday morning watch election results half-drunk with the toasting of various ministers losing their seats, then sober up while binging an entire season of The Bear all afternoon.

Taraji P. Henson did a huge public service calling out Project 2025. Earlier today, Kevin Roberts, chair of Project 2025, threatened violence: "We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be." It's Christofascism. Make no mistake.

Next week - that's when I'll start carving out a bit of time to work on book 2. I have to remind myself it doesn't matter if any publisher picks it up, I'd self-publish it anyway so that means book 2 needs more than the intro chapter I've done.
