The distribution of seats in Northern Ireland will see Sinn Féin as the largest party. It has seven seats. The DUP has five, SDLP two, the Alliance, UUP and TUV have one each. Independent Alex Easton won North Down from Alliance.

Don't think this was in the plan either... Jeremy Corbyn has been re-elected as MP for Islington North. After being banned from running as a Labour candidate, he ran as an independent, and easily beat his Labour opponent. Corbyn got 24,120 votes and Labour’s Praful Nargund got 16,874 votes.

These Prof Sir John Curtice comments are pretty noteworthy "...we are heading towards one of the lower turnouts of general elections in postwar electoral history." He noted that there was “not that much difference between Conservative and Labour in much of what they were offering the electorate”.

Roll out the Swingometer! What appears to be happening is the swing to Labour is greater in the marginal seats they've targeted than in their heartland seats. But Reform is taking votes off the Tories & has just finished second in Newcastle. So as already noted the right wing vote is still over 40

This is a great graphic of the most marginal Conservative seats. Of the first 100 seats they've lost the lot EXCEPT (and this is very interesting) in Scotland. Oh and sound the schadenfreude klaxon - this predicts Thatcher's old seat of Finchley will be lost. 😀

As usual what might happen in Northern Ireland's 18 seats is ignored (none of the UK mainland parties run campaigns there). Currently Sinn Fein has 7 seats. Very interested (as someone born there) to see what happens.
