Maybe I'm naive, plenty of white folk who aren't racist "in their hearts" don't know how racist the policies they support are. The Southern Strategy didn't fool Northerners into thinking Southerners aren't racist - it fooled the Southerners's kids. But I'm teachable about this if I'm wildly wrong.

It sounds like ranked-choice voting would clear a lot of this up and not disenfranchise people who can't take off two days to vote.

I always thought of boy band as"don't play any instruments but all sing in the same vocal range" (which excludes vocal groups like The Four Tops, who have tenor, bari, falsetto, etc). This is all way complicated.

The fact that we live in a world where we can expect not to be able to enter elevator shafts while the elevators are in motion is the result of policy and power dynamics. If we did not have the expectation of the elevator not being there, the joke wouldn't be funny.
