this. the combination of apocalyptic thinking + discourses of the demonic + persecution complexes can lead to dangerous binaries. they see themselves in a battle against evil. the rest of us persecute them because we are emissaries of evil; we are threats to be neutralized.

As someone who just spent a significant amount of time in Texas where you can’t get liquor on a Sunday and porn was banned let me tell you these provisions are dead serious. People work around but that means binge drinking/buying on Saturdays and sketchier sites for titillation. Not more virtue.

once more: the majority of white USians voted for trump in 2020 - after 4 years of all that a trump presidency involved. now, if that's not you, wonderful. but seriously ask yourself why it's easier to roll up in BIPOC mentions than to have tough conversations with other white people.
