So, Florida's top cybersecurity experts quit.

Seeing this RNC legal support info, it turns out I have left over trauma.
From being adjacent to 1,800 arrests at the 2004 RNC and watching arrest video and working on criminal cases into spring. Followed by the 2008 RNC where we were raided at gunpoint. And swatted 3 days later. Good times!

100% real. In the past, even white people who were citizens by birthright have been stripped of U.S. citizenship. It can happen here.

i think akhil amar reed captures something very important, which is that the roberts court rewrote article ii, which explicitly states that a president can be held criminally liable after impeachment (and which has long been understood to mean that he can be held liable after leaving office)

You're making some big assumptions:
1) That I know what this law is.
2) That I know generally how it is applied.
3) That I might know specifically how it could vary correlated with the Court's term.
What I do know is they have made a practice of walking on the sidewalk. That seems to work.

Also, the author bio is a perfect encapsulation of the incestuous network of right-wing institutes, fellowships, and "think tanks" designed to prop up mediocre intellects so long as they lick the right boots.

I say this having gone through periods of depression, suicidality & self-harm. Hopelessness is something I can’t avoid but I can choose to believe that it will pass, especially if I work with other who struggle with the same things. Hopelessness and community can’t exist in the same heart for long.

I don’t want to generalize too much but the place I see the most hope right now is from those that have been fighting the hardest for the longest time. Extended doomerism can be a luxury not afforded to those who have the most to lose.

Will always terrify me that tfg had a guessable Twitter password during at least part of his tenure. He was known to express Presidential directives via Tweet, and an adversary could have taken his account over at will. Terrifying.

In which I note that presidential sole authority to launch nuclear missiles is pretty much like a monarchy already. The question is in whose hands you want that authority.

If you hear next week that the RNC has "moderated" on abortion by dropping a 20-week-ban from the platform or somesuch, here's me telling you now that it doesn't mean anything close to "moderation" when it's these guys running the show.

In my global inequality class I show this video on Argentine citizens holding ex-dictators accountable for crimes. "Escraches" were a big tactic, involving protests at their homes, embarrassing them in front of their neighbors, & not letting them live normal lives.

1. No, you don’t.
2. No, you don’t.
3. You are an idiot.

I really think it’s the so-called moderates and centrists this time. Most regular Liberals seem to me to be very afraid of a redux of 45 and very much would like to engage in a strategic electoral campaign that defeats him. Elite Dems seem unable to offer any direction to them.

I'm assuming same city as my handle. :)
Mostly out-of-towners.
I've had a fantasy for a while about forcing all new residents (and maybe visitors) to watch a video showing them how to walk, how not to stand in the middle of the sidewalk. or hover at the bottom of a staircase.

That Twitter link shows activists going to and fro in front of John Roberts' house. A few people had questions about the security. FYI, those are U.S. Marshals.
An organizer talked about that and how they do what they do.

I use 1Password and am very happy with it (they've had a few extremely minor security incidents, but they were extremely transparent about them and none of them compromised customer data). If "free" is more important than features, friends are equally happy with Bitwarden.

Either the Democrats will run Biden, or he'll say he can't continue the campaign and Democrats will run Harris. Either is newsworthy, but neither is nearly as radical as running a pro-insurrection convicted felon with legal immunity he's eager to use.

Cambridge University Press has been hit by a cybersecurity incident. They had to "take some of our systems offline." "Most customer-facing platforms remain live."
I learned this when I visited the Cambridge Core site. Best of luck, CUP peeps!
