The #orchids in our part of the #PerthHills seem later this year, maybe due to the delayed rains.

This Autumn Leek Orchid (Prasophyllum parvifolium) was flowering in July last year. No sign of them yet this year #orchid #biodiversity #ozflora #ozplants #wildoz 🌿

The Book-leaf Mallee (Eucalyptus krueseana) is classed as a rare species and is endemic to inland areas in the south east of Western Australia. This one was thriving in Kings Park Botanical Gardens #biodiversity #ozflora #ozplants

I heard you needed a new lockscreen wallpaper. 💛💚 🌿 Edith's checkerspot (Euphydryas editha) on Arrowleaf Balsamroot (Balsamorhiza sagittata).

I love thinking back to this very special time when I was out on a dirt road by myself near Bruce - and this happened. It was a thrill when the budgies strafed me as I stood watching. Hundreds of little wing beats over my head 💚💛💚💛

As I was camping in a dark sky area, I had to at least try to get 12P/Pons-Brooks.
Friday night was beautiful & clear. The Gluepot Reserve rangers were pretty interested in what I was doing so came out to have a look.
So here's my grainy capture. The bright star beside the comet is 29 Tauri.

You don't need to tell the ecologists this, but it's great that other disciplines are advocating for our arboreal elders!

These grand beauties are valuable for so many species, including humans - we need to protect them at all costs.

The Crab-Lipped Spider Orchid (Caladenia plicata) has a very distinctive wide, fringed labellum and heavily clubbed sepals. Flowering from September through to early November, this is definitely one of my favourite #orchids #biodiversity #ozflora #ozplants #wildoz 🌿
