Watching the S3 episode of Last Week Tonight, where John Oliver unveiled #DonaldJDrumpf and the Drumpfinator, and I'm truly at a loss to understand how we ended up with Trump as president, let alone how we got to where we are as a country, i.e. with him on the cusp of a second term.

"You ARE a son of a bitch!" - Martin Mull when I asked him about his appearance on WONDER WOMAN. With anyone else, this might've been the hardest he'd ever made me laugh in my life. With him, there were too many other occasions to even guess where it ranked. RIP, Mr. Mull.

R.I.P., Spencer Milligan, the character actor perhaps best known to kids of the '70s as Rick Marshall, the diligent dad on LAND OF THE LOST. (I also remember him fondly from his episode of POLICE SQUAD! because of course I do.)

I love this detail from Donald Sutherland's NYT obituary: "He recounted how he was once rejected for a film role by a producer who said: 'This part calls for a guy-next-door type. You don’t look like you’ve lived next door to anyone.'" A perfect aspiration there, I think!

i hate to have one of these at all but my big "WE DRANK FROM THE HOSE" opinion is that people younger than millennials really can't imagine what coming of age in a time of media scarcity meant - like, I would read about records and movies and not actually be able to see them for YEARS

I don’t get “triggered.” I just can’t stand people acting like assholes. It has nothing to do with being liberal. It’s just down to preferring common decency. Which, just for the record, is all I saw at the two Pride festivals I’ve attended w/ my family this month. Zero assholes.

The talk about Ian McKellen falling off the stage in London reminds me of the time he feigned a health emergency in the middle of our interview for Bullz-Eye, momentarily freaking out the PBS publicist & giving me a memory for the ages. (Click on the photo for the full anecdote.)
