Which is captivating because genre cinema is structuralist by nature. So, by breaking that structure, it's post-modern and exploits its signifiers and the expectations of the viewer keeping them off balance. It's a brilliant work.

I love POINT BLANK because the act of watching it feels like you're trying to remember something, but it won't totally cohere. Like the way you'll try to piece together specific details of a memory, but they're gone. The film has a deliberately broken structure.

I love Albert Finney in this movie. I wrote about his performance ages ago, and it's a favorite.

Reloading the Woj feed, reloading my emails, sending texts, making posts to build the hype, trying to keep the cat from pulling the television down on himself. I am working overtime

Some of My Best Friends Are... is airing on TCM tonight in the wee hours of the morning. It's a major underseen queer film featuring Candy Darling in a prominent dramatic role. We covered it extensively in our book along with numerous other films involving Candy, Holly Woodlawn, and Jackie Curtis.

If this landlord doesn’t understand how arts funding works- his behavior with the board indicates that- then I don’t think he should really be in this position to destroy an arts institution that from all appearances is a major Toronto metro hub.

Gonna watch some Criterion Channel leaving soon movies today. Just watched Lam Ngai Kai's THE CAT (1992). S Tier movie cat. Lovely oddity. The Sailor Moon chic of an alien girl and her cat clashing up against gonzo Hong Kong riffing on Stuart Gordon goreplosions with a dash of John Woo gunnery.

There is a Cat vs Dog fight scene with the insane choreography and violence you would expect from the best of HK action cinema of the 80s and 90s but with a cat and dog, countless cuts alternating between shots of real cat and dog, puppet cat and dog, animatronic cat and dog, stopmotion cat and dog
