Ah, the wonderful conundrum of "If I go back that far and change the timeline, am I a murderer?" Also, "Pastwatch" by O. Scott Card* is an interesting thought on the alternate timeline of preventing Columbus, the Natives were prepared for him instead.

Id prevent the Dreyfus affair by getting Alfred Dreyfus case removed. Nab Nixon for his crimes. Preventing Emmett Tills death and the Tulsa massacre are big ones. Obviously shoot hitler. Prevent the 2021 coup in Sudan. Do something in Afghanistan, not invade? End Saudi Arabia's war against Yemen.
