In all my hype and excitement over this DIIV show, I forgot to mention the openers: untitled (halo) were totally unknown to me, but everyone in our group really dug them. The other opener was They Are Gutting A Body Of Water, who I saw two years ago and loved. Translates well to larger venues

This is not said with an ounce of “indier than thou,” because I’m a big believer in supporting people having fun in the way they want to…BUT…when you don’t listen to pop music, karaoke isn’t fun because a roomful of people are losing their minds to songs you don’t know. It’s oddly alienating. 😩😞

Had a great time seeing Drive-By Truckers in El Cajon last night. Used to run in the same circles as Matt when we lived in the same town and we reconnected last night for the first time in years and he hooked up a pass where I got to see soundcheck, etc. Bunch of Bama boys hanging in Cali. 🤙🏼🤘🏼
