Senator Ron Wyden

I have been engaging with KOSA's sponsors, the Commerce Committee and leadership to make these final improvements before advancing the bill.

Why not just kill it entirely when so much of it is bullshit? Nothing in it will protect children.

Please, for the love of God, do not fall for their lies; the bill is, from it's inception, intended to cause harm to marginalized communities, to give republican lawmakers tailor made tools to suppress and oppress the people they dont like, and they are painting it like child safety to fool you

Better idea - kill it entirely and stop helping Republicans pass legislation There's nothing sensible or respectful about working well with bigots, Senator

Sen. Wyden - if you've been talking with the bill's sponsors, then surely you know that this continues to be touted by anti-LGBTQIA+ groups because it still overtly threatens a lot of our rights to privacy and anonymity online, right? And that the content restrictions will hurt literally everyone?

Just trash the bill, dude. It sucks and making it suck slightly less is worse than not passing it at all.

Senator, you have made protection of internet freedom and private data part of your platform for decades. That is and has been a far-sighted stance - please do not sabotage internet freedom now by making cosmetic changes to an inherently anti-LGBT bill which will destroy online anonymity.

Please fight for us. This bill is dangerous to LGBTQ+ people. The right has been trying to use "protecting kids" as a back door to write laws that erase us and our critical resources from online life. Please don't fall for this.

If you've been engaging with KOSA's sponsors, then you know one of their stated goals with the bill is to censor discussions of LGBTQ issues, particularly, and I quote Senator Blackburn verbatim here, "the transgender" [sic]

How about just don't support it at all, because even if you convince them to "neuter" it it's still a foot in the door for fascism and violence.

It should take more than that to support the bill. Under-18s have 1A rights. Any impingement on those rights must pass strict scrutiny. Nothing suggests this bill can do it. It's a sloppy, wide-spray attack on their ability to read and speak online with no narrowly tailored remedy or justification.

Let this bill advance with or without your improvements, and if it has your support I promise you I will begin a campaign to see to it that your time in the Senate representing OUR state and OUR population is over, Ron.

One more thing, Washington State, Oregon, California, Nevada, Colorado, Illinois (where I live), New Jersey and Connecticut ALL have LGBTQ+ inclusive curriculum mandate laws for at least grades 9-12. Illinois has it for grades K-12. KOSA endangers those state laws. Stop this madness NOW.

It's a stupid and dangerous bill and should be shelved. The MAGA right-wing will find any loophole in it to ERASE all LGBTQ+ and repro-rights content off the internet. My two freelance JOBS are in LGBTQ+ spaces and we have web presences. They will sue to remove them from the internet. Listen to us.

If those are the *final* improvements - they are cosmetic at best. Please. Scrap this whole thing.
