Despite this being Apple's big step into artificial intelligence, their AI announcement was extremely reserved. Every single AI feature was constantly couched with promises about privacy and safety, almost as if Apple didn't want to commit to the AI boom.

This sounds like Apple is getting ready to buy either Paramount or Warner Bros and keeping their politics clean for regulators and Hollywood. Also, when do people realize that over the top greed creeps like Altman, Musk, Trump, Putin inevitably make terrible dealmakers when they’re in charge?

Most other companies are treating AI as a mill into which they insert cash & customer data, and hope more cash magically comes out the other side than they put in. I was initially worried Apple would huff the same AI glue, but their approach is much more reasoned, while respecting user privacy…
