Really my best "how do you cope with a burning world" suggestions are 1) learn first aid including eyewashes 2) spend time with those you love 3) have as much weird sex as possible

If you're looking for something that will help you feel better and be useful in bad situations I always recommend learning to do eyewashes and taking a first aid class (Wilderness First Aid is a good option); it's helpful, it feels good to be competent, and you might meet others doing the same

This is so relatable; many many of my conversations with my therapist are basically "how do I build a good life for myself and my family amidst the horrors?" How do I balance taking action with protecting myself? How do I find joy without burying my head in the sand? Community helps <3

I think the most important skill I've gained as I've gotten older is keeping quiet when my input isn't needed/I don't know what I'm talking about/something isn't my business. It can be really hard for me because I like engaging with people but like keeping my mouth shut is so often the right call.

I was mid-thirties and this was really true for me and unfortunately one effect of putting myself through said emotional gauntlet was doing a lot of harm to those around me; it's harder to be kind to others if you aren't being kind to yourself and I deeply regret the pain I caused in that time.
