my anger then and now wasn't just directed at ableism because intersectionalism is paramount to advocacy for any cause. my disability made me easier to dismiss, though. i was "tired" and "needed a nap."

when i wrote at a large website with a message board and had a decent twitter following, the number one thing people said about/to me was that i shouldn't be this angry all the time. two years after i left that job, my disability forced me out of the workforce and into SSDI limbo.

You can't both shove Disabled people out of offline spaces and then say "online discussion of how not to be a harmful person isn't praxis". I mean, you can but you're being an asshole. And for many Disabled people, those offline spaces were never accessible. It's not just masking.

Clawback rules are absolute garbage. They're one of the best arguments for UBI. They were especially pernicious when people who used pandemic funding to get back on their feet up here got hit with clawbacks by the federal government and kicked right back to square one in their lives.

meanwhile, the projected payout is so low and the limitations on other income/assets are so strict that there's a real question of whether it's even worth it to stay on SSDI if i get approved. every time my parents look at long-term finances for me, the rules of SSDI are a huge impediment.
