There’s such an asymmetry in how the parties view voters. Democrats would, for the most part, expect a democratic voter to view the evidence and vote honestly, republicans expect party tribalism to be the dominant motivating force.
People should take into consideration that there could be a juror who is a fan but took the duty and the evidence seriously. The environment encourages this. The judge is a person of serious authority and limits what stuff you get to see, cutting through bullshit you'd normally get in news.

A full blown trumper isn’t going to get through voir dire any more than I am. Jurors are people who aren’t paying a lot of attention. Forcing them to pay attention freaks them out worse because they’re not used to it already. Now we just need to figure out how to scale it more than 12 at a time.
