And it fucking sucks because I’d love to believe in the idea that if everyone voted and had their say we’d have good enlightened leaders and I don’t know. I don’t know looking at the history of our country why that would necessarily be the case.

Do people realize Kamala Harris is already on the ticket and in fact already wields tremendous power in our existing government as the VP and president pro tempore of the Senate?

I could read about Elden Ring & be told a story of rich undead refuse to die & keep being reanimated again and again through sheer greed and the obsession to cling to their fading power or I could read a fundraising email from James Carville & get that perspective firsthand from one of those undead

We can save the country by electing a Democrat in Nov. But not Joe Biden. And his replacement has to be exactly who I have in mind---definitely not anyone else. Why is everyone so stupid and not following my easy plan?

Of course not! You're absolutely right about the Democrats. Their party leadership has been in free fall for a long time. I don't work with or for them. I'm way further left. One problem, both federal and down-ballot, is they've thought they can be pro-corporate and pro-union at the same time.

I started as a door to door canvasser for the Democratic Party in '06. I went on to work mostly at the state legislative level, helping run grassroots campaigns to bring more regular people into the realm of power politics. We have so much to hope for. Crisis feels scary but also leads to correction

a thing to remember, in all of this horror, is that these are not the actions of a political party that is confident it represents the will of the people, and who is currently out of power and enslaved to a deeply flawed avatar. the struggle is not over and they have not won

I feel that too. I'm wondering when we will all decide "fuck this I'm in the streets today" instead of continuing to keep the capitalist scaffolding that allows for all of this chicanery to continue. General. Fucking. Strike.

I will also add that voting to keep the reactionary right out of power is not a sufficient action to stop them, but it is a necessary one.

I’m just so pleased that the court decided homeless people can be arrested for existing, the government cannot govern, and the president cannot be prosecuted for committing crimes, all in the same week. Blitzkrieg doesn’t begin to cover what has happened to the rule of law.
