I would bet there are cuneiform tablets with a “posting does nothing” argument on them somewhere. Probably in a British museum, if we’re being real.

As a side note, this is John McEntee, Trump's Director of White House Personnel and the primary architect of Project 2025. On Tik Tok he said he gives counterfeit bills to homeless people so they will be arrested when they go to spend them.

Thanks largely to Biden and the Democratic party there is now a kind of global race to get to the mass, chear carbon-free energy. We're going to hit peak global emissions (fingers crossed) this year or next. We're deploying solar at a level that blowing away every single prediction.

There's a world on the other side of this with a huge, vibrant, unionized and high-paying industrial base remaking the physical world for the post-fossil fuel age. It's already starting and I think even Trump can't *fully* destroy it, but he can slow it down and make us lag wayyy behind.

Oh this was the least of their errors. Not crushing the (relatively) nascent anti-democracy movement when they had the chance was far bigger, as we Too Big to Jail.

Qualifications? There ARE NO qualifications to be president, aside from having birthright citizenship and being 35. That's it. You can be a literal felon under indictment for many more crimes, and still win the Oval Office.

Why? Trump would go to his grave before dropping out, and that's assuming the entire GOP wasn't in lockstep behind him which they are. In Biden's case, his condition actually makes a difference to the outcome, as Dems are capable—if not (yet) willing—to have a vote of no confidence.

I guess they trusted that 74 was too old to run for what could be an 8 year term. Given where we are now, that judgement was entirely correct.

I'm old enough to remember that part of the calculus behind Biden's VP nod was he was too old to run for president in 2016, and could therefore be relied on not to undermine Obama while Obama was still in office.

Yes, that's exactly what it is. It is a vote of no confidence by people who are not going to place their confidence in someone showing every sign of rapid and irreversible personal decline. Same goes for the team around him who have been grossly dishonest in concealing Biden's true condition.

That's your interpretation, sure. There are other interpretations, also valid, that don't imply the kind of deep personal degeneracy that you're describing here.

Yeah, that's the cruel irony of a guy like Gov. Abbott, who proves someone can be a shockingly capable menace, regardless of physical limitations. The thing about e.g. Abbott is that his wheelchair has no connection to his stage in life. The subtext is dramatically different here.

I've taken an absolutely blissful indica capsule, and it dawned on me that, as kids in the late-80s and early 90s, we consumed an astounding amount of Kool-Aid. And I don't mean metaphorically (as in cult propaganda). No, it was literally gallons of actual Kool-Aid.

Yes, that is what the economist is saying here. By not directly and exclusively acknowledging Trump's catastrophic unfitness at every opportunity, they are, in fact, endorsing it. They are not endorsing it. In fact, they've been freaking out, and even moreso now that Biden is clearly no defense.

Uhhh...the President. The President is the guy. The President who is Joe Biden. That's who the story is about. Joe Biden — who is conspicuously too infirm to do the job he's in the running for.

Honestly, it depends on the person. If they're sophisticated enough to recognize the same image can have different meanings depending on the context, I'm sure they can conclude this isn't about them.

I don't know anyone saying they can't vote for Biden because he's old. They'll vote for a moldy sandwich if they think it'll stop Trump. The issue is that they don't believe the sandwich or Biden can do that, so they're demanding that the party put forward a candidate who can win and serve.

Maybe because that's not what this is about? People who are shocked by his decline aren't refusing to vote for him. They're just very pessimistic about his odds of beating Trump, while recognizing there is still (just enough) time to run an more capable alternate.

Uhh, this is exactly *why* they're running this story — because the one person in a position to respond to the Court's overreach is clearly not up to the job of stopping the guy who will end the Republic with the power he has just been handed.

You not only have knowledge of their intent, you don't even have a way to infer intent, except what's clear; this is a story about a guy who has clearly aged out of his ability to do the job.
