TIL that John Forester was CS Forester's son, and that explains so much about the formative "stiff upper lip while biking on a 50mph road with a long line of angry trucks behind you" attitude of vehicular cycling. Biking to work shouldn't feel like heroically boarding a fire ship amid an oral exam.

The type of Russian missile that destroyed a Kyiv children’s hospital relies on western-designed components, according to experts and Ukrainian officials, showing the Kremlin’s success at evading sanctions.

Yes - they're about making it easier, not making it faster. I did part of my journalism training in Sheffield and cycled to work - the hills were indeed daunting (but I didn't own a car). If I lived in Sheffield now, I'd want an e-bike. Storage also an issue (they're heavy!) but 1 step at a time

When Louise Haigh, now transport secretary, said she'd never cycle in Sheffield because of the hills, Cycling UK took her out to test-ride an e-bike. She loved it. Wonder if this will show in policymaking road.cc/content/news...

Remember the Stars of David graffitied in Paris? The coffins beside the Eiffel Tower? It seems probable that they were part of a Russian disinformation campaign targeting France - largely because ot its support for Ukraine. AP investigation here:

Ooh, I cycled to the polling station but forgot to take a picture of my bike there. Maybe I'll swing past on my way to work

I voted in Islington North. Turnout was much higher than normal, officials told me: 600-700 people had already been in by 11am at my polling station. Only one dog there, disappointingly: a black Lab, very friendly

Tackling it head-on doesn't often work. Emotion and a sense of belonging overpower the facts. Pomerantsev was entertainingly rude about the BBC's German service during WWII, its earnestness and hectoring tone. All very recognisable. Depends on who you're trying to reach

People said Greenpeace was nuts in 2009 to predict 921GW of installed solar by 2030. Last year there was 1,419GW. Cost dropped 95% from 2008-20 and it’s dropping faster. There will be vast amounts of cheap clean energy in the future; we just need to use it.
