Agree. I think it's more accurate to say those leftist spaces are evangelical: you need to accept [fill in the political position] as your personal savior.

Not to make a meme out of a great book but I’m less worried the Dirty War and more worried about the Jakarta Method.
A lot of American reactionary agitprop rhymes awfully well with the types of stories promoted by the military in Indonesia before launching a coup…

I know 35 uncommitted delegates! Not enough to win a motion but definitely enough to start organizing towards a majority. What advice would you give one of those delegates? I’ll pass it along to comrades in the Twin Cities!

No one expected a lawyer from Illinois to be the Republican presidential nominee, but the first step in that process was the party hosting its convention in Chicago…

I think Harris is “potentiallly” a good candidate but in reality I think she’s more ambitious than she is capable, a more cunning politician wouldve acted differently as VP than Harris did.

Harris ascended to power by playing the inside game of SF machine politics. Her senate campaign in 2018 underperformed baseline expectations, and her presidential campaign ended before it could be confirmed she lost. She also doesn’t appear to have any organic connections to poor black america.

If I could step in to steelman, cuz I agree, the anons so far have been rationalizing without reasoning….
Harris is a weaker candidate than whoever wins an open convention, bcuz winning on the floor consolidates partisans behind the nominee, whereas Harris has tenuous claims to represent a bloc.

This was incredibly enlightening at the time I heard it and the truth of the matter has only gone on to reveal itself time and again.
I think there must be a super structural bias for this behavior to occur so frequently.

I think another underlying issue to your point is the dearth of black pols who are popular with progressive white libs and older black voters, such that finding a 1:1 replacement to Kamala seems impossible—someone in the coalition will be left in the cold.

As a honest American citizen I agree but as a DSA hack above all, let me tell you how ‘frail’ the federal gov was in responding to Florida’s oppression of trans youth.

Yes in theory the convention picks whoever they do choose but in reality it’s a predetermined outcome this year because *biden accepts the nomination weeks before the DNC*!

There isn’t a constitutional mechanism to use, constitution is on Kamala’s side in this case. The political problem Kamala has is she’s a court politician, and her court is unpopular.
Pritzkers the only feasible replacement cuz he’s got the money, but he doesn’t seem interested in hard ball.

It’s still before Labor Day so maybe voters will forget, but if the media message is “Biden is a feeble old man” until E day…

Yeah I think the prospect of anything meaningfully changing with a different nominee is next to nil. I think what was so shocking last night was Bidens obvious fragility, because no one had seen him debate during the primary, so his performance was shocking.

I sincerely believe this is an induced behavior by social media companies/Apple. Miscommunication is profitable because it takes time to set the record straight, time spent on device, creating value for capitalists.

Now Bowman still ran and won a primary in 2022, so I don’t think “gerrymandering” is a determinative excuse—if he won once he could’ve won again!—but the terrain was certainly disadvantageous for the strategy he took

Right—specifically had the districts been the same as in 2020, and the turnout had been the same, Bowman would’ve won

Frankly the internet has scrambled peoples perception of power and politics and it’s resulted in this skewed, stilted analysis that AOC is evil when republicans vote 100% for Israel funding every day of every week

Which is all to say that my wages did not increase in a vacuum. I felt these raises in my income as mediated through the experience of “growing older” but time is money and every second spent in debt is a second that debt grows.
