The city doesn't do any fireworks. Civic center conservancy started doing drones instead of fireworks this year on Indy Eve (July 3). Rockies, Rapids, Elitchs and neighboring municipalities do shows on their own schedules. Elitchs has them tomorrow night iirc

Yeah and once you bought into Overdrive it's nearly impossible to migrate that collection to other platforms. Do libraries ditch Overdrive (and all of the book licenses purchased over years) to go to another platform? How do they prove sustainability and product support?

No, they just linger in the digital catalog. It's all so artificial. They're files on a server. Authors are paid a pittance. All of these public dollars end up with private equity funds who own Overdrive and publishers

There is an entire three-hour documentary called EX LIBRIS about the New York Public Library system, and it is enchanting and wonderful, and if you have Kanopy (which you can likely get through your own library, for crying out loud), I encourage you in the strongest terms to watch it.

The number of adults I sell on the public library, who had *no idea* of all the things they can get there! "But I don't have time to take the kids..." It's ok, they can check out ebooks & you don't even have to make time to return them! "Audiobooks are so expensive..." They loan those too!
