Sales guy: We’ve built a new system that will require callers to enter in their account information before talking to an agent. Call center: awesome, it seems like this will save so much time Sales guy: Lol, no, your agents will ask for everything they just entered all over again

I do not think there is price fixing in the cereal market, where the customer is spoiled with so many different options that Soviets used to wax poetic about it. I agree there are cases where we should not leave things to the free market but cereal is not one of them.

Like most businesses in the US they had rising profits as consumers spent $1 trillion in stimulus money. They then raised prices and made the box bigger, consumers bought less as as result, and the stock price fell. Would this situation have been better if the FTC tried to regulate the box size?

People answered “Yes” when a small business lender who polls about news topics as a PR strategy asked “Are you concerned about X,” wow, amazing. This is much more convincing and again I don’t see the problem here. They messed with the box, people didn’t buy as much. Why should the FTC get involved

I am… not arguing that. I am saying that this is pretty benign and not evidence that General Mills is the second coming of Soylent Green.

Sure if it's a choice between him and Trump I would obviously pick Biden but i'm not close to the median voter especially a low information voter and I don't think it's crazy to think differently, especially if you are thinking about where the president will be, physically and mentally in 2027

Honestly can't tell if the people defending Biden right now are doing so in earnest or also gaslighting Like did they not watch the debate, or are they not reading the stories about how he's mostly there as long as you catch him between 10 and 4pm.

Oh they care about inflation, I don’t think they care that cheerios is messing with the box. Companies mess with packaging all the time, and again, what exactly do you want the remedy to be here. Should the FTC mandate the box size? If people don’t like the box they can buy Joe’s O’s

I think part of the reason Americans don’t care that much about this is because nominal wages are up 40%. What exactly do you want the remedy to be here? People can switch cereal brands if they don’t like Cheerios prices. It’s worth a lot to be able to save 20 minutes walking the aisles.

That is… not that unusual vs all US businesses, and the paragraph below contains a hint as to why it might have happened. www.federalreserve.gov/econres/note...

The other thing is like… maybe profits are up because they are doing a better job of serving customers? I order pick up now in an app and rarely go inside the store. Faster for them and me.

I don’t understand this. The price of the stuff they bought from e.g farmers went up, so they raised the prices they charged to consumers. This is how inflation works. What were they supposed to do differently?

If you have a September through May birthday, not only are you the oldest in your age cohort but you get to go to “transitional kindergarten” for 9 months and get to know the other kids in your class. June through August, youngest in cohort, not eligible to go to TK. This makes zero sense to me?

I am going to say it again - blaming all of this on money is going to keep progressives and leftists from learning lessons from all of Bowman’s unforced errors. Once you are elected you have to recognize that you’re a Democratic insider, and that your constituents are Democrats. AOC is good at this!
