Eh, in 36 years of dishwashering, this has not become an issue. Pans and pots get replaced for other reasons long before it good be, but even my cheap old Ikea pans are still perfectly fine after years and years and years of nothing but dishwasher cleaning.

If you know some Swedish, I can very much recommend the original. It was surprisingly easy to read for being a full novel not some cut-down version for beginners. Can't say much about the English translation but I very much enjoyed the book! 👍

I went the other way and just have Ubuntu (or on my private PC, Kali) as a WSL installation on my Windows. Means I can use my mostly-windows-tools for daily work use (respectively for gaming), and still enjoy all the Linux stuff I personally use on top of that. Not ideally, but eh, works.
