so the virginia department of transportation runs a bus service that connects various locations in southwestern virginia to washington dc and back again. there are four routes and the tickets are very affordable. i’m on the bus now and it’s great? can’t believe i haven’t done this before.

California will fail to reach its legally-required GHG reduction targets unless we reduce traffic by about a third. Fortunately, that is very, very possible to do: we just have to make our government actually want to do it.

I love that for every person who says: "you can't expect someone to carry [that] on a bike." There is a photo of someone carrying [that] on a bike.

"What makes this highway project stand out is what it may mean for how courts will interpret rules that are intended to reduce driving — the state’s largest source of greenhouse gas. California is nowhere near meeting that goal."

This evening’s protest by the governor’s office in support of congestion pricing. Almost as many people at the back of the march too. Photo via Open NY.

Work is underway on NYC DOT’s redesign of 2nd Ave, with an improved bus lane and wider bike lane from Houston - 59th St. This will be a huge improvement for 57K daily bus riders—and 6K daily bike riders. Project includes new delivery worker layover spaces and other ped upgrades.

To meet emissions targets “ridiculously [celebratory] high levels of electrification” are needed, he said. “We also, at the same time, need to be building the types of communities that enable folks to move around without needing to rely on a car”

Is ATP getting fully restored to current levels or just reversing one of the two cuts (first in the initial governor budget, and then further in the May revise)?

I biked to the doctors for an annual well visit and there was one broke down bike rack for the one of the largest hospital systems in Pennsylvania, and it was full of old abandoned bikes and there was no place to park my bike. Plenty of space for cars though

Oh to meet our climate commitments we are definitely going to have to ramp up public transit frequency, coverage, and ridership by more than you’ve ever imagined while also electrifying the transit fleet. This is a DM btw

"Plucking a flawed project from the bottom of the pile to award a $105 million grant indicates that the CTC is not faithfully grappling with its role in building the clean transportation system that Californians deserve." Reminder: $20b freeways fund can't find $600m for safe walking/biking routes

The CTC just approved $105 in TCEP money to widen I-80. AB 2535, which would have redirected TCEP $ to rail & clean trucks, faces an uncertain fate. But policymakers claim there is no money to electrify Capitol Corridor! Aren't we in a climate crisis? www.nrdc.org/bio/carter-r...

Today we told SBCTA to focus on Metrolink double tracking and service, hold off on more unproven hydrogen trains, and electrify the San Bernardino Line. SBCTA received dozens of comments thanks to you! Keep up the pressure! You can read our letter here: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Can someone remind me: when an agency issues a final environmental review on a highly controversial and potentially illegal freeway expansion project at like 4pm on a Friday, is that usually a good thing?

Twist the loose ends of the knot really tightly and then you can push them back through and unknot it,
