Let me be clear. In my opinion, John Roberts has joined Roger Taney (Dred Scott - slavery) as a Chief Justice who will be remembered as an evil man. Not just wrong, but worthy of eternal condemnation for trying to destroy the Republic.

Not the first time she's got me cred, either. I knew Los Campesinos because of the video she did for them, and through The Kid there's a whole cohort of ~20-year-olds at a nearby university that have "Romance is Boring" and "We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives" in their playlists because of it.

Family vernacular is the best. When we're telling a story in ours, it's normal for there to a place where someone says "and then, the ensuement." This means "and then it all went wrong", which evolved from our overuse of the phrase "chaos is ensuing" when The Kid was little.

Here in Ontario, they built the 407 highway with public funds, the 90s PC party sold it off. MADE ZERO SENSE. It's a toll road that makes billions, could have been a cash cow forever. As it stands, the current PC party just gave up collecting 1 Billion owed from the 407 because... reasons?

Seconded. This was great--I'm not sure what I was expecting walking in, but it definitely wasn't a ride this fun. Also, if it helps, this book is full of things that are crying out to be stolen and worked into your creepier TTRPGs.

Oh yeah, at the very least Closer To Fine and The Power Of Two seem to still have cultural relevance--my 19-year-old sings along to Close To Fine, and has both of those songs on her playlists. Not sure if she knows anything outside those two songs, but she definitely knows them & therefore the band.

Some initial thoughts on the UK elections. 1. It confirms once again that when a center-right party veers to the hard right to weaken the far right, it ends up doing the opposite. After purging moderates and going full-on wingnuts and fever swamp, the Tories got decimated by Reform, not Labour. 🧵
