Something I really wish people in leftist spaces would remember is that military service is one of the few viable paths of upward mobility in the US, especially if you’re in a situation where paying for college is impossible. I’m not saying that’s a good thing, but it is absolutely a reality.

As someone who is undergoing cancer treatment and the associated sickness and compromised immunity, the thing that I get from people is "OMG you are so brave" and I'm like I am scared to death some days. No bravery involved, just doing what the doctors want me to do and trying to stay alive.

My local Walgreens pharmacy is so bad with delays filling my medications that I went with Amazon. As much as I hate to deal with the devil, at least they can get my meds to me in a timely manner.

I didn't see this before - happy birthday! And here is an early 90's cola from St. Louis that was pretty damn good. Nitro was served in the bars I haunted back then, real sugar, lots of caffeine (like Jolt) but tasted great, and a good way to "sober up" when it was almost closing time.

I had my mother dropped off at the Summit station, right outside of Chicago, which has a decent sized lot and ramps. I had made arrangements to have assistance getting her off the train, they had a lift available and it went fairly well. I imagine the folks at Union can do the same.

The company that owns Daria were not willing to clear all the rights for the music in the series, so there was a project called the Daria Restoration Project that put all the music back into the series. You don't realize how important the music is until it's been replaced with generic crap

If it wasn’t for the Affordable Care Act, many of us would be unable to get the healthcare we need because it was a “pre-existing condition” and not covered. Of course, people’s minds change quickly when they are the ones impacted by a sudden illness or disability.
