I have heard a quite prominent doctor state that at this point it is a fringe position to still be masking indoors which is a reminder a disappointing reminder that in this society giving a damn about other people is considered a fringe position.

Yes, perhaps that can be a future topic for you, how we are all trapped making compromise choices at so many points. Myself included can fall for performative virtue because it seems better then nothing. I have found myself saying, "at least they made the effort to be hypocritical".

Thanks for another thoughtful blog. Sincerity vs virtue performance is a deep and sadly long-standing issue. It shows up in families, communities, countrys and online. Initially it can be hard to tell, but eventually anyone with eyes can see. IMO.

The reporters and democrats ought to be the ones demolishing the felons Gish Gallop. They ought to be taking apart his every statement and exposing his lack of knowledge, understanding and veracity. Is it possible that they simply were fooled by the felons obnoxious stream of bulls#*t?

Casual reminder that "summer flu" isn't a thing; you probably have covid. Sometimes it takes a few days for the tests to catch it. Paxlovid and metformin have proven efficacy to reduce symptoms and risk of long covid, respectively. Wearing an n95 or equivalent is an act of care.

I am trying not to second guess your doctor as to what they were thinking when they decided not to take a biopsy. Perhaps they carefully explained their reasoning with you and you agreed with what they said. None of my business of course. I wish you all the best with this.

Also I loved your vision of an artist as a person who can offer an alternative. For me art has certainly been that, especially poetry, someone, somewhere shares something with me, like a close friend whispering in my ear, something "the world" has no interest in, yet it sets my heart on fire.

Yes, as badly as I may have scraped through at times, I am glad to be alive. I am a little bit still intact in some ways I think. I even can talk myself into believing the chronic pain and poverty may have helped a little bit to keep the important parts of me together.

This is an interesting article. I particularly like that you said it really doesn't work to try to compromise with "the world". My experience is that "the world" has no mechanism to meet halfway, it is a steamroller that wants you on board or crushed.

An unjust law is not a law but a tyranny, imo. There is no moral obligation to follow an unjust law. The moral obligation is to act justly even if counter to the legal obligation. One example is of course if the SS is looking for someone in most cases it is right and good to help the person escape.
