Pretty much every move I’ve ever made in comics since age 25 has been inspired by the 70-year-olds I saw in comic con Artist Alleys, cranking out sketches of characters they created but don’t own, to pay their doctor bills and nursing home fees.

Ai shitheads keep trying to carve out exceptions for where AI could potentially be applied in nearly every facet of society. --They have failed to realize the only acceptable application of AI is to send Terminator robots back in time to the 80s to shoot the people who would grow up to create AI.

Sure, but *saves money to leave them, and sends a much stronger message. Your feedback? That's called consulting. That's something people pay for. They've already committed to abandoning creatives. This is only the last straw, they haven't earned your insights, and they haven't paid for them either.

3/2 because Adobe doesn't care if the things being made with their programs are any good. They care about endless growth and greed, and selling to your clients is a larger pool of customers than selling to creatives. The answer isn't to fill out their survey, the answer is to leave them.

2/2 adobes recent string of shitty tutorial adverts have one goal in mind: make Photoshop look easy to use, to sell the idea that having the program is the same thing as being an artist or designer. Like trying to sell the idea that phone cameras makes your mom a photographer. (One more addition>)

Look, fill out the Adobe survey if it makes you feel better, but let's be clear: they don't care what you think. Not because of any pessimistic assessment, but rather because you, fellow artists, comrades, are not their target customer anymore. Your clients are. They want to supplant creatives. 1/2

Wild watching Target, Amazon, WalMart, etc., roll back prices like they're expecting us to think they're heroes when all it really means is that they've been gouging their customers for years.

Jeeze good luck with Import taxes. Good luck with infrastructure, good luck with all those domestic contracts the federal government can't outsource to a sovereign nation. Good luck getting dual citizenship to visit your family in union states. put short, secession is a slogan, not a serious policy.

The funny thing about the occasional news of Texas trying to secede from the union is they largely think that business would be 'as-usual' but they wouldn't have to listen to us. Nah. Good luck "securing your border" without federal aid. Good luck doing a customs check to travel one state over.

As someone who regularly reads through newspaper archives and primary documents, I can confirm that going low not only works but generally isn’t held against you. If it’s accurate it even becomes the status quo.

When Mark Hamill goes to the Whitehouse to goof off with Biden and call him a Jedi or whatever bullshit, see that for what it is: attempts to sure-up gen X votes because between genocide, M4A, student loan forgiveness, LGBT + abortion rights+low wages, millennials and gen Z are totally out of reach.

Eventually it's like a movie about the civil war and some union soldier is like "dang those cannons are loud, sure am glad those Confederate traitors aren't 8 foot tall creatures from Mars who track based on sound" "Uh... Yeah, me too, I guess?"

There's no good reason to use chatgpt, midjourney, or any other form of AI that steals the work of artists and humanities. If a robot isn't cleaning garbage from the ocean or something I'm completely uninterested.

iPhones were really only a revolution in marketing. Palm pilots existed, cell phones existed-- they just weren't sleek or sexy looking. Sure touch screens are neat but I don't think they're ground breaking enough to declare the end of an era for them.

The 08 recession + ensuing protests for accountability did more to dispel capitalist myths + lay bare the broken social contract that society had the luxury of ignoring in the 90s under the failed beliefs that it was "the end of history". Class consciousness is a defining departure from the 90s imo

Imo , yeah 9/11was a big turning point, but the myth of American exceptionalism and economic dominance globally was relatively unchallenged. Aside from a few 'crying soldier-genre' movies a lot went unchanged. The 90s surplus that permitted opulence had yet to be truly challenged in a meaningful way
