Fair enough, I never did read RT proper, just that the impression I got of that specific era was a *lot* of "we're putting our fantasy factions... IN SPAAAAAACE" To the point where they later just deleted factions because they couldn't get them to fit the theme in a way they wanted.

The Emperor isn't some cold master manipulator, he genuinely wants to help and knows he's fucked up. There's less xenophobia, even compared to WFB, everyone's in this together, even if they don't necessarily want to be. Chaos is corrupting but you can get better.

They could safely just compress all of the characters that are A Guy with a Lantern into a single profile. And then there's the Evocator kits. Which is wild because, yeah they put out a bunch of ETB variants but also they were kinda a unique unit in the list.

Mostly find it real weird because they got rid of a bunch of stuff that was thematically/aesthetically redundant, or were clearly getting a new redesign. I was completely expecting this. And, like Sequitors can just be Liberators with robes now. Paladins are Annihilators now...

Oh, yeah, okay this is like a weird reverse of the Aliens thing. Where the thought process was making an aggressive looking spaceship so they made it look like a gun. In this case you've got a lot of guns made to look like the spaceships due to the unifying aesthetic stuff.
