Apropos of nothing, I’m reminded of a rejection letter I got for Under God where the editor said, “Your story needs to be more complex than: religious is bad and not religious is good,” and that’s how I instantly knew they never read it.

I saw a Jim Halpert whiteboard meme years ago about how in time travel stories characters are concerned about not making a small change for fear of a huge affect but in real life no one thinks what they do can have any affect, and now I think of that any time I consider not doing one of these.

Very cool. Glad that’s what they landed on. I am not well versed in all of Amalgam but it seems some things were handled with clever parallels linking and others are just surprise fusions. I much prefer the parallels.
