It's been absolutely crushing to see so few climate researchers and advocates speaking out about what is being done to the Palestinian people. We must ask ourselves: if you can tolerate this, exactly what is it about climate change that concerns you?

Twitter is building and sharing the evidence base for the genocide, as well as the solidarity movements and strategies to stop it. Here? Mostly crickets.

The genocide is happening RIGHT NOW.
RIGHT NOW BlueSky is a bunch of mostly white, mostly smug people who are not engaging with what is actually happening.
Staying here because it is "comfortable" or "friendly" is such a cop out.

I hate Musk as much as anyone, it's a point of pride actually. But the reality is that the people currently facing the harshest fascist violence are posting there and need our solidarity to boost their message. It's the least we can do.

Not many in the climate community have openly spoken out against atrocities & genocide against BIPOC peoples, esp Palestine; too many have remained careerist or cowards or apathetic. Anyone supporting climate justice would do well to remember the โjusticeโ part too

Blocking Musk on twitter helps with 90% of the trolls, actually. And we can't just dismiss the one platform that has tons of active posters, in the midst of an actual genocide, bearing witness for themselves and their friends & relatives. That's not how solidarity works.

Thanks Kylie. I can't read whole thing since not subcriber, but thanks for pointing me to it and to Kavita.

It very much does, and has been doing far more to get the word out about what is happening on the ground in Gaza, West Bank, Sudan, Tigray, etc than anything I see here.
Also "people just need to move" when they are mid-genocide? Can you hear yourself?

Ok, where are the Palestinians? Because there are lots of them on twitter. And I want to be boosting their voices.

I am back on twitter. I honestly can't stand BlueSky any more. I have to scroll endlessly to find anyone I follow posting about an ONGOING LIVESTREAMED GENOCIDE. Few to no Palestinian voices and no one seems bothered. This is a smug little place, not a world forum.

"What could appeal more strongly to emotion than the entirely preventable despair, injury and death of our fellow humans? If that primal, basic, human level of communication is insufficient, what hope can we ever have..." (1/2)

The WHO is still out of communication with colleagues in Gaza today, and continues to call for a ceasefire.
The IDF has said it is intensifying airstrikes.

Yesterday, after my brother's concert, we had dinner with friends, and for 2 minutes, all of us tried to remember what people usually talk about besides wars and genocides. What a crazy world.

This is actually a lie. Without electricity water pumps canโt work. Moreover, water is a human right under UN conventions. People are dehydrating & dying, so water availability without electricity is meaningless; much of the infrastructure was bombed too. Water inaccess links to further deaths.
