Oh, for sure. Joan was great. She and Jay were a bit like Nick and Nora Charles, though Joan was somewhat more trouble-prone. And once Jay's identity retroactively became an ongoing secret, she got to keep her knowledge of it.

If you look at the next couple of stories, though, it isn’t. Heck, one has an old college friend of Jay’s call him out west because he knows he’s the Flash and needs his help. Jay didn’t advertise it, but it wasn’t really secretive until around Flash Comics #7 or #8, where it suddenly was.

Well, for the first five or six stories, Jay Garrick didn’t have a secret identity. He grew one retroactively once people figured out that that was part of what made these super hero comics work.

I’m the opposite of @kurtbusiek.bsky.social , I loved these things and it’s about my favorite format ever. But then, I liked those reprints, I was more attuned to the 60s material in general.
