Good reporting on an entirely predictable problem. Fun fact: Airbnb also covers up thousands of sexual assaults every year! Its internal safety team has "cool-down rooms" to take a break from the trauma of what they hear. It's a bad company, a bad industry, and people should just stay in hotels.

The use of torture was widespread- even when they were routinely ( I paused to think about that there .. ) executing people , not interrogating for any info etc .. whole townships were eradicated just because they used to be held by the other side at one point. The ordinary citizens suffered so much

That’s the Russian way - they care as little about their own foot soldiers , as they do the enemy. Brutal ruthless people. Their philosophy involves throwing masses and waves of troops to wear down the defenders, use their ammunition up. Then they destroy everything in their path as they advance

I just finished this book today - Russia by Anthony Beevor. One of the hardest reads in my life. About the revolution and the civil war. The rise of the Bolsheviks. The brutality and loss of life was staggering, and he doesn’t pull punches in the dialogue. I learned a lot about GB’s involvement too!

The reason they did so well , despite their greed and incompetency, is the support of the media - in print and broadcast. The BbC has been a major let down , so obviously emasculated since the Tories started threatening them with the licence fee abolition ( goes back to Osborne )
