Loyal Tories at the #BBC still weeping & harping on about the demise of their pals in the Tory party, are they?
Meanwhile the rest of us just want to forget & move on…

Gove & the Tories used a leaf out of the Bannon playbook, trying to instil a mistrust of experts, intellect and academics so that they could force their own narrative onto the people. It’s partly a reason that conspiracy theories have taken hold.

Your story confirms everything we ever suspected about Rees-Mogg, the odious, self-serving hypocrite. It was a delight to see him ousted.

At the end of the day, @jacob_rees_mogg will never amount to anything or achieve anything without the help of others. He is the very epitome of the British elite establishment that cares about nothing other than feathering their own nests - something #Brexit facilitates.

Agreed. Let’s have people who have real experience & knowledge in their fields giving us the benefit of their know how. ‘We don’t have to listen to idiots’ (so fu*k Michael Gove, who was so scared of experts because they might challenge some of his party’s stupid policies)

When the bar has been set so low for so long, it’s almost giddying to have credible, experienced, serious people in cabinet and to be spoken to with respect and understanding. Clearly, that’s the least we deserve. Right now it feels transformational.

I suspect Starmer will be wary of looking like he’s tampering with ‘impartiality’ thought. As they were all friendly Tories together, Cameron was able to sneak in the changes. You can bet if Starmer tries anything similar the upper echelons of the Been will scream ‘interference’ from the rooftops. 😒

It will be - I suspect there will be some very civilised, but thinly veiled antagonism between upper Beeb echelons and Labour government. The standards at the Beeb have fallen dreadfully over the last decade - it’s almost tabloid level at times. 😒

I haven’t watched BBC news, current affairs or politics programmes since 2020 - and I used to work for them! (A long while ago, but one of my closest friends, an investigative journalist, left after 25 years at the Beeb. Now works for the Wildlife Trust & feels much happier)

Emily Maitlis did call them out, particularly Robbie Gibb, ex-communications director at No 10 Downing Street for the Conservatives (for Theresa May). Nadine Dorries also managed to let slip, with her usual indiscretion, that he was meddling with Ofcom…

Nope. What’s he going to do - fire them and install Labour Party faithfuls? That makes him look as bad as the Tories. Besides, it’s actually rather difficult to remove those at the top of the BBC without sufficient reason. They could resign of course, if found to be as dodgy as Richard Sharp was…

A nice progressive move from Labour: apparently James Timpson is being given a peerage and made prisons minister. For non UK folk, his high street chain of key cutting and shoe repair shops has a policy of employing ex-convicts giving them decent jobs to avoid reoffending. It works.

Everyone who sees or hears the media, especially the “balanced” BBC, doing this needs to complain directly to them. Already BBC news talking about farage and 4 seats in the hourly headlines, and ignoring the Greens’ 4 seats

Yep, every statement she makes will be scrutinised & she’s going to be criticised for every little thing she does, (while a man would be more likely to get away with all kinds of mistakes or gaffes).

Loved the irony of her appearing on Channel 4. It was a subtle revenge on their part, but I suspect she’s too brainless to notice & imagines she was asked for her political commentary😂

Of course, Nadine Dorries provided the comedy turn of the evening on Channel 4 (the channel she tried to close down because they were too mean to Boris), making gaffe after gaffe until Alastair Campbell lost patience and told her to ‘get over’ Boris Johnson! 😂 www.thecanary.co/trending/202...

I really hope Farage gets 5 years of disruption and people just don’t just give up on continuing to challenge the loudmouth. He’s got what he wanted, which was access to the public purse, a gullible following & yet more attention from the media. He mustn’t be allowed to get away with it.

There are several things Labour could do now to mend the broken system. Cap donations. Regulate anonymous think tanks masquerading as charities. Stop opaque ‘unincorporated associations’ funnelling dark money into politics. Make parties check where the money actually comes from. Are they willing to?
